The Princess of red Greek wines, certainly, it is not so easy to pronounce it but…probably this is The noble Greek Wine, and “one of the noblest grape varieties of southern Europe” according to Master Wine,  Mr. Konstantinos Lazarakis.

Xinomavro means sour +black in Greek language and is a multi-talented red wine.

Blanc de noir still wine, rosé wine, red wine, sparkling wine even sweet wine, what else we could expect?

Xinomavro has his own Fanclub, the Xinomavristas, and from many Greek wine lovers could be considered the Greek brother of Nebbiolo.

Complexity, a rainbow of aromas and  worth aging, Xinomavro dominated in vineyards all over Macedonia.Four P.D.O. (Amynteo, Naoussa, Rapsani and Goumenissa) hosts Xinomavro vineyards .

 The wines from Naousa had great reputation and started being marketable from the end of 19^th century abroad from Greece. The bottles of Xinomavro wine in the area should been labeled with official trademark.

Although is hard to choose between my dearest Xinomavro wines to feast the International day on 1st of November, during my last wine tour in West and Central Macedonia I fell in love with some of them.

I really do suggest  “Brut Cuvee Rosé wine” a sparkling wine  from Domaine Karanika , “Trygias”  a Blanc de Noir dry white wine from Estate Foundi,   “Paliokalias” a rare Greek Grand Cru from Kostis Dalamaras, a shiny talented winemaker and “Kali Riza” a dry red wine from old vines and Kyr-Yianni Estate.

Let’s raise a glass of  Xinomavro wine my friends and celebrate on 1st of November the International Xinomavro Day”!!!
